Please note that Rosecroft will host a special live racing card Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at 6:40 p.m., about one hour after the Breeders’ Cup Classic is run at Churchill Downs.

The track is offering a special Breeders’ Cup seating package along with a buffet that will be available for roughly eight hours in the clubhouse. Details are available under the “Upcoming Events” tab on the website.

Racing secretary Pete Hanley said he expects to have a 10-race program given the fact there is live racing as usual the following day beginning at 4:40 p.m. It’s probably not a bad week to have an extra night of racing given the fact Harrington Raceway ended its meet Oct. 24, and Dover Downs doesn’t open until Nov. 5.

On a simulcasting note, Dover has scheduled the Matron Stakes during the first two weeks of its meet. Four events for 2-year-olds will go Thursday, Nov. 8, and four events for 3-year-olds are set for Thursday, Nov. 15.

Here’s a look at some races on the program for Wednesday, Oct. 31:

Race 2

Climate Change has finished in the money 33% of her 61 starts with only two wins. That’s not usually the kind of horse that inspires confidence, but this group of “non-winners of 2 pari-mutuel races lifetime” pacers overall has a low win percentage. She joined the Cameron barn two starts back at Woodstock and improved dramatically; last week at Rosecroft she wasn’t a threat from well back in a tougher “NW 2” but came home well enough to warrant another chance despite post 8.

Hillbillyheartache last week in this spot got roughed up a bit as the favorite through a decent third-quarter and didn’t come home as well as she had at Woodstock. She also is worth a follow-up.

Race 4

You don’t see many races here in which the final half-mile went in 1:03, but that was the case Oct. 24 in a “non-winners of 1 pari-mutuel race lifetime” event from which four of these exit—three of them are among the top four in lowest odds on the computerized morning line. … Proceed with caution.

Race 6

Conscience Free, a 2 year-old filly, has a pair of seconds in two starts at Rosecroft and two weeks ago placed versus the 3-year-old gelding B A Rocket, who stepped up to the “NW 2” level Sunday night and won again in 1:54. Post 9 could be a hindrance but she does show some of the best closing quarter-miles in the field.

Krzyzewskiville, a 2-year-old colt, paced very well in his third qualifier and wasn’t too far behind the returning Allie’s Finale, who finished a good fourth off that qualifier Sunday night and was timed in 1:53 1/5 in a race he needed. He draws the pylons and should work out a good trip.

The four 3-year-olds in the race have come close on multiple occasions but haven’t been able to get the job done. And hunch players beware: Halloween Girl is racing on Halloween.

Race 10

In the weekly feature for filly and mare pacers, Little Sandyloam moves from post 9 to the middle of the gate after an inside trip when the outer flow was live last week; her winning effort two starts back from post 8 would suffice here.

Race 11

James Riverside moves inside tonight and probably will be dispatched at decent odds in an evenly-matched field. He sat a long way behind a horse that was first over from the start of the race but began backing up late on the final turn, and then was behind a bad breaker in deep stretch while attempting to make up some ground; potential price play.
